Building on some of the frameworks we established in 4.4 (KitKat) and the feedback we received from both customers in the real world as well as in-house research, we started to push some new features and adapt the Android Dialer to the evolving Material Design system at Google (many of which did not actually make it into 5.0 but will see the light of day in the future).
I was design lead for all things voice communication for Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Working with a dedicated motion/visual designer we pulled and fed interaction, visual, and motion patterns into and from the growing Material Design Framework. I worked across interaction and visual design for these pieces working with a team of multi-disciplined designers, product managers, and engineers. A large piece of the engineering work was also decoupling the dialer from the core system OS and offering at a standalone app in the Google Play Store.
If you're looking to augment your team, roadmap your digital product, get your MVP off the ground, or even chat about a full-time design gig, I'd love to connect and help bring thoughtful, calculated design to the table.
